Alpine conditions at the Lecht, February 2007 The Lecht ski centre - runs to suit everybody

Skiing and Snowboarding

The Lecht Ski Centre is just 12 miles from Strathdon Lodges and so is well placed for a day on the slopes. The Lecht has a range of runs to suit all abilities and is often still operating when Glenshee and Cairngorm are stormbound.

Facilities at the Lecht are first class in the custom built £1m daylodge incorporating ski school, ski hire shop cafe and bar all under one roof.Ski hire and lessons can now be booked online .

The Lecht is a great centre if snowboarding is your thing as well. There is a snowboard funpark built into the hill which needs minimum snow to be up and running. It features table tops, log slides, gap jumps and a full length half pipe.

There is an on-site half pipe cutter, freeride terrain on numerous blue and red runs, Wide open flowing runs for Alpine riding plus some testing steep terrain and beginners' terrain on lots of green and blue runs

For cross-country enthusiasts the miles of forest tracks in Strathdon are ideal for cross country ski enthuisiasts and when conditions are good longer tours can be done in the Cairngorms.

For a change of venue you might want to try the extensive slopes at Glencoe if the conditions are right, or you can drive to Aviemore in an hour and take a ride up onto the Cairngorm plateau, Britain's only Arctic wilderness, on the new funicular railway. At the top you will find the Ptarmigan, a large split-level restaurant complete with bar and stunning panoramic views.
