Strathdon is a spectacular highland glen stretching from Mossat to the Lecht on the eastern side of the Cairngorm National Park. The River Don, famous for its brown trout, comes down from the high hills at the foot of the Cockbridge-Tomintoul road and runs through mixed woodland that is home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and plants. There are gardens and galleries to visit, ruins to explore and friendly faces to make your holiday in Strathdon truly memorable.

As a base for activity holidays Strathdon is hard to beat. The area abounds in walks, from low-level forest strolls from the door of your Lodge to some of the most serious hillwalking expeditions in the UK. Good tracks run deep into the hills, making this one of the best areas in Scotland for mountain biking, while in the Winter the skiiing at the Lecht is right on your doorstep.

The rivers Don and Dee offer first class trout and salmon fishing and are also enjoyed by canoeists, wildlife abounds, and bird watchers are unlikely to be disappointed. You can find out more by browsing our Activities menu above.
